CO2GRO Replacement Silicon Filter Beads

Description

CO2Gro Filter Bead Replacement Pack

Silica filter beads are highly porous, synthetically produced beads of silica (silicon dioxide) used primarily for their exceptional moisture-absorbing properties. These beads are engineered with a vast network of microscopic pores and a high surface area-to-volume ratio, enabling them to effectively adsorb and retain water vapor from the surrounding environment.

In the context of a CO2 generator outlet, silica filter beads play a crucial role in moisture management. When CO2 is produced, it often carries with it a significant amount of water vapor. If this moisture is not controlled, it can lead to various issues such as corrosion, microbial growth, or disruption in downstream processes that require dry gas.

The mechanism by which silica filter beads draw moisture from the CO2 generator outlet is through a process called adsorption. As the moist CO2 gas passes through the silica bead filter, the water molecules adhere to the surface of the beads.

This process is facilitated by the large surface area of the beads and their strong affinity for water molecules. The beads continue to adsorb moisture until they reach their saturation point, at which time they can be regenerated (typically by heating/drying) to release the absorbed water and restore their drying capacity or to simply replace the beads with new dry beads
